writing
Ali has been a writer for as long as she can remember and can’t imagine her world without it. Today, she is the author of two books: the first, Where Hope Lives, is about how she dealt with adversity as a woman in the fire service, and the second, After Trauma, is about how she and others can not only live but thrive after traumatic experiences.
business
Ali is the CEO and Founder of On the Job and Off, a company dedicated to building more resilient first responders by providing educational resources specifically geared to the mental health challenges first responders face. She is also the Executive Director of First Responders Care, a non-profit that educates first responders on issues in their community, like child abuse, and empowers them to act.
speaking
Ali has delivered over 500 presentations nationwide in her career so far, including her 2019 TedTalk about resilience after trauma and the ways in which she and others in the emergency services can combine their efforts and resources to better advocate for first responder mental health. She draws from her own experience as a volunteer firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician.
